Our Shepherd’s Kitchen Team
I am Jodi Curtis, Director of the Hot Lunch Program at Our Shepherd. I am very enthusiastic about the healthy changes being made in the Hot Lunch Program. We are fortunate to have Eileen Stephenson and Shannon Shornak on the team. They are with me every day preparing the food and cooking the meals.
Volunteers
Each family is required to work in the kitchen 15 hours during the school year.
Families can pay a buyout of $75.00 if they are unable to volunteer. Volunteer opportunities can include prepping food after school drop-off, bagel pick- up on Tuesdays or Fridays, or taking the laundry home. But what is needed most are lunch hour servers. If you are available from 10:45 am – 1:30 pm, we would love to have your help. All the fresh choices and options mean we can use a lot of helping hands. The kids love to see you too!
New for 2011-2012
We thought it would be helpful to offer something healthy, fresh and not “hot”; a “box lunch” option -- for the children who aren’t into hot lunch all the time. We know it can be time consuming to make lunch at home and it can also get rather pricey. So our solution is to do the work for you!
A Box Lunch will consist of a sandwich of choice (ham, turkey or PB&J) condiments on the side, made on white wheat bread; fresh fruit or an applesauce cup, a Gogurt, and a bag of potato chips or veggie sticks and a drink all for $3.50. Box lunches will be ordered a month ahead just like hot lunches.
