Safety Squad

The 5th through 8th graders at Our Shepherd may volunteer to be a part of the Safety Patrol. At the end of the 7th grade, students may apply to be a Safety Captain for the following school year. Each chosen captain is assigned to one day a week. The captain oversees two squads, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The squads help patrol inside and outside the building. They have a number of duties including monitoring hallways, opening car doors in the morning, helping at the crosswalk, as well as putting up and taking down the flags.Being a part of the Safety Patrol gives students the opportunity to take on some extra responsibility, be leaders, and help keep our school safe for school families and visitors.

Student Council

Student Council is an extra curricular club that functions in a leadership position at our school.  Representatives are chosen by popular vote from grades 4-8.  The 8th graders also make up our Student Council Board which is comprised of a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

Students must maintain an 80% or better in each of their core-curricular academic subjects in order for them to remain on the Student Council.  This club meets twice a month and organizes school wide service projects such as Coats for Kids, Stuff for Soldiers, a penny drive for Lukemia research,  and several campaigns to assist the homeless and less fortunate in our area.  The focus of Student Council is to increase student communications and morale throughout our school, to instill a pride for being a student at Our Shepherd Lutheran School, as well as share the love of Christ with those who are in our community.
