The son of Lutheran educators, Rev. Carl Gnewuch was raised near three college campuses with four sisters in Oklahoma, Nebraska and Illinois. His mother was a reading specialist who often simultaneously taught first grade and college education classes. His father was the graduate dean of Concordia University, Chicago. Pastor Carl attended St. John’s Lutheran School in Forest Park, Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, Concordia University River Forest, and Concordia Seminary St. Louis. Ordained in 1991, Pastor Carl served at St. Michael in Wayne and Risen Christ in Myrtle Beach before accepting the call from Our Shepherd in 2004, where he now serves as the Senior Pastor. Pastor Gnewuch is a published author of bible studies and magazine articles and is a frequent speaker at church retreats and conventions. He has served the church-at-large on the Michigan District Youth Board, POBLO’s founding Board of Directors, adjunct instructor for Concordia Seminary, and national pastoral counselor for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. He currently serves as a partner pastor with Dr. David Eberhard of Historic Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit.
